Drive™ For Traffic School
|
Drive™ for Traffic School is an important, interactive addition to a Traffic School session. While traditional classes often spend much time
discussing the rules of the road, the program addresses the importance of attitude when driving a motor vehicle.
If we do not want traffic offenders to become repeat offenders, it is essential to address driving attitudes and behaviors.
COMPONENTS
Along with various materials and aids, there are three major components to Drive for Traffic School.
Video
The Drive™ Video is the dynamic, innovative video used in Drive™ for School and Drive™ for Parents, with one exception: Instead of the driver thinking “I drove to school,” the words say “I drove to work.” This allows the young man in the video to represent anyone driving a motor vehicle, not just a student.
Drive Presentation
Because backgrounds and ages will vary greatly in a given class, the Drive Presentation was developed to include a wide range of facts and scenarios for the causes of motor vehicle crashes, injuries and deaths. The goal is to educate attendees about aspects of their lives that are affected by the consequences of motor vehicle crashes – work, walking, motorcycles, cell phones . . . even pregnancy – and to provide attitudes they can adopt to help prevent those crashes.
Reality Checkmate™ Challenge Book
Unlike traditional sessions, Drive for Traffic School allows for interaction between the various participants. Several scenarios from the Reality Checkmate Challenge Book can be completed in a short period of time by groups of attendees. Through group leaders, they then share their answers and come to their own conclusions about what to do and how best to develop a positive attitude when faced with difficult driving choices.
Using the concept of Ownership Learning™ developed by Moorshire Group, attendees gain a vested interest in what they conclude in their groups. This, in turn, assists them in both remembering what to do in given scenarios, and then doing it.
