Drive™ Video

The Drive™ Video is 67 seconds long. It has almost 100 special effects. There is no talking. Ghostly words and phrases – the thoughts of the young driver – float, hover, dissolve and dissipate.

This video is targeted to young people – although adults are just as mesmerized. Adults also have the added unsettling knowledge that the driver is quite likely similar to THEIR son or daughter.

The objective of the Drive Video is to demonstrate vividly the “disconnect” between what young drivers THINK of their driving, and what they are actually DOING once behind the wheel. However, it is no different with adults.

For this young man, and too many teens and adults, he believes he is a good driver . . . and yet he is doing everything possible to get himself killed, while perhaps killing others.

Once the video is over, the class or audience is asked two questions:
  1. What was the driver DOING in the car – his behavior – which tells us about his attitude towards driving?

  2. What was the driver THINKING (his words), which tells us his attitude towards his driving?

The Drive™ Video Clues sheet provides the teacher or speaker with many of the answers.

It is not difficult for a teacher, speaker or facilitator to then point out the “disconnect” between beliefs and actions – a disconnect that is a root cause for the more than 6,000,000 motor vehicle crashes in America each year for all drivers.

Experience in using the video has shown that audiences want to see it again – they want to get all the clues! It is a dramatic, emotional, attention-grabbing way to begin the Drive™ Program.
